I’ve really been digging Serum for the past couple of years. On my Provide LP “For Me” I got to extensively use the waveshaping capabilities to create exactly what kind of sound I want to use. If you’re a bonehead like I am then you can drop stupid pictures into the waveshaper and laugh about the funny joke you just made. The sounds usually aren’t great when you do that.
The FX portion of serum is also pretty sick. You can really dial in the space and time of your effects, to hit exactly where and when you want, and you even have the ability to adjust the shape of your clipping in the distortion fx. I love this plugin. Pair it with Cthulu for some fun ass sequenced patterns.
On top of that I like to supplement with some of Arturia’s collection, since they do a wicked good job recreating all of these vintage synthesizers i could never afford. Be on the lookout with your ears for their virtual minimoog on the next Provide LP. Instead of playing a bass most of the time I used Migic to play my guitar into the minimoog. Keep your ears peeled.
